Thomas Lanier Williams III(1911-1983) , better known by the nickname Tennessee Williams, was a major American playwright of the twentieth century. He received many of the top theatrical awards, including the Pulitzer Prizes for Drama, New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards, Tony Award for best play. His plays A Streetcar Named Desire, The Glass Menagerie, and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof are considered among the finest of the American stage.
