John Hoyer Updike was one of the most distinguished American writer, poet, literary critic and novelist. He was born on 18th March 1932 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Updike is the author of more than fifty books, prose and poetry. Updike received numerous honors and awards including the National Book Award, American Book Award, National Book Critics Circle Award, and a National Arts Club Medal of Honor. He was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1982 for Rabbit is Rich and another Pulitzer Prize in 1990 for Rabbit at Rest.
